Family Camp takes a lot of people serving behind the scenes, and this year we were blessed with a wonderful team of volunteers in the kitchen!

Our new Executive Director, Sandeep Mukhiya, and his wife, Nicky, organized food services for the week, with Nicky’s family faithfully serving as the kitchen crew for several days.

Three of our district churches also generously volunteered to provide the kitchen crew for a full day: Cedardale Church, Barrie Pan de Vida Church and Bradford Spanish Church. We’re so thankful for each congregation and for the pastors who encouraged their churches to serve: Pastor Grant Verdold, Pastor Diego Santos, and Pastors Juan and Janina Espino.

We especially loved seeing young people from Bradford Spanish serving in the kitchen. It’s a wonderful example of young people living out their faith by serving others in practical ways.

Thank you to everyone who cooked, prepared, served and cleaned throughout the week. You were a blessing to our entire camp family!

And as we look ahead to Family Camp 2027, we’d love to see even more of our district churches volunteer to serve as the kitchen crew for a day. It’s a practical way to serve together, build relationships across our district and bless the Family Camp community.

Last week was Family Camp!

For 80 years, Nazarenes from across Ontario have gathered for a week of worship, time in God’s Word, fellowship and life together. This year, Dr. James Pedlar taught during the morning sessions and Dr. Elmer Gillett spoke each evening.

Camping has deep roots in the Church of the Nazarene. Family Camp has changed a lot over 80 years, but the heart of it remains much the same: setting aside time to seek God and grow together in Christian community.

Riverview Camp itself is part of that story. For generations, volunteers and cottage owners have given their time, gifts and energy to care for the grounds and make it a place where our district can gather.

We’re grateful for another year together and for the many people who continue to invest in this ministry and our camp family. We hope you'll consider joining us next year at Family Camp - rent a cottage, bring your tent or trailer, or just drive up for a day!

Last week was Family Camp!

On Sunday, July 19th, D.S. Steve and Pat Ottley visited our Quinte West Church. This was the first Sunday following the death of their beloved pastor, Rev. Norm Sheets.

The service was moving as the church family worshiped together in the midst of their grief. D.S. Steve share a message of comfort and hope and the led in a time of sharing, allowing the congregation to reflect on their memories of Pastor Norm.

The funeral service was held at the Quinte West Church on Friday, July 24th. Please continue to pray for the Quinte West Church family and Pastor Norm's family.

On Sunday, July 19th, D.S. Steve and Pat Ottley visited our Quinte West Church. This was the first Sunday following the death of their beloved pastor, Rev. Norm Sheets.

Pastor Pedro Fernandez (Toronto Emmanuel Spanish) share the good news that on Saturday, July 4, they held the baptism of 22 new believers from the Woodbridge and Emmanuel Spanish churches.

He also shared how glorious it was for he and Pastor Belkis Fernandez (Woodbridge Spanish) see their first two grandchildren testifying to Christ at their baptism. Praise God!

On Sunday June 28th, DS Steve and Pat Ottley, visited our Toronto Emmanuel Church with Pastor Abraham and Milka Alberto.

God is doing a good work at Emmanuel. Pastor Abraham dedicated a precious baby in the service after his parents share a moving and powerful testimony of God’s miraculous hand at work in making it possible for them to have a baby after the doctors told them they couldn’t. Praise God!

Emmanuel Church reported that this past Church year, 12 people came to faith in Jesus and 10 were baptized. To God be the Glory!

Because it offers something that’s becoming increasingly rare: uninterrupted time to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and simply enjoy being together in Christian community.

Stepping away from the demands of everyday life creates space for worship, prayer, conversation, laughter, and rest. Children and youth build friendships with other Christian families. Parents and grandparents find encouragement. New friendships are formed, and old ones are renewed.

Family Camp starts this weekend at Riverview Christian Camp in Pefferlaw. Consider heading up for a day or weekend.

You don’t have to stay at the campground or register for Family Camp to take part. Come for the day, enjoy the grounds and activities, share a meal, or join us for one of our daily worship services at 10:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.

Whether you stop by for a few hours or begin planning to spend a week with us next summer, we’d love to see you! Why not challenge Pastor Steve to a game of mini-putt! ⛳

Pastor Norm answered God's call to ministry as a young man and faithfully shepherded churches for decades. Even after retiring, he returned to pastoral ministry in 2017 and continued serving the Quinte West church family until his passing.

Pastor Norm lived a life that consistently pointed others to Christ. As he once said to Pastor Steve, "I want people to celebrate Jesus, not me." That simple statement reflects the humility and faithfulness that marked his life and ministry.

Please join us in praying for his son, Glen and his wife, Sheri, along with their family, and for the Quinte West Church of the Nazarene as they grieve the loss of a faithful pastor.

Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Service at Quinte West Church of the Nazarene on Friday, July 24. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.

The service will be available on the church's YouTube channel afterward. Unfortunately, a live stream will not be available.

One of the responsibilities of our district is to identify, encourage, equip, and educate the men and women God is calling into ministry.

That's why the Canada Central District founded the District Ministry Training Centre (DMTC).

The DMTC provides affordable, accessible, and quality ministry education for those preparing for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. Many of our students are already serving in their local churches while balancing careers, families, and other responsibilities. The DMTC makes it possible to pursue ministry training without leaving those responsibilities behind.

If you sense God may be calling you into ministry, or if you know someone in your church who is exploring that call, contact our DMTC. The Canada Central District is committed to investing in the next generation of pastors and ministry leaders.

Ladies, you're invited to the Ladies Tea at Riverview Christian Camp!

On Thursday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m., women from across the Canada Central District will gather for an afternoon of tea, conversation, and fellowship. Many of those attending the Ladies Retreat will also be there, making it a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, make new friends, and enjoy time together.

If you've never been to Family Camp, this is a great introduction. Come for the tea, stay for a service, enjoy a meal, or spend the day on the beautiful campground with its quiet spaces and waterfront. You may just find yourself starting a new summer tradition.

Ladies, you're invited to the Ladies Tea at Riverview Christian Camp!

On Thursday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m., women from across the Canada Central District will gather for an afternoon of tea, conversation, and fellowship. Many of those attending the Ladies Retreat will also be there, making it a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, make new friends, and enjoy time together.

If you've never been to Family Camp, this is a great introduction. Come for the tea, stay for a service, enjoy a meal, or spend the day on the beautiful campground with its quiet spaces and waterfront. You may just find yourself starting a new summer tradition.

Our district GO Team is now in Eswatini, serving alongside our Nazarene family in churches, schools, and communities.

This team includes nine first-time members and four who have served there before. Together, they're building relationships, encouraging local churches, and sharing the hope of Jesus.

Would you join us in praying for them over the coming days? Pray that God would give them strength, wisdom, and open doors for meaningful conversations. Pray for the people they'll meet, and that this time would leave a lasting impact on everyone involved.

God is at work across the Canada Central District, and we have much to praise Him for.

At our 91st District Assembly, held June 12-13 at Rosewood Church in Scarborough with General Superintendent Filimão Chambo presiding, we celebrated God’s faithfulness and looked ahead with renewed vision.

This past year, 172 people came to faith in Christ, 141 were baptized, district membership grew beyond 4,000, and average worship attendance surpassed 5,300. More than 3,000 people are actively engaged in discipleship ministries, two new churches were organized, and the generosity of our churches continues to strengthen ministry across the district.

We also celebrated as District Superintendent Steve shared a new vision framework that will help resource and equip our local churches as we continue the mission Jesus has given us: making Christlike disciples in the nations.

Thank you for praying, serving, giving, and faithfully sharing the hope of Christ. To God be the glory for all He is doing across the Canada Central District.

The Bereavement Journey has become a valued ministry across the Canada Central District over the past few years, offering hope, understanding, and support to those walking through the loss of a loved one.

Grief affects every person differently, but no one should have to face it alone. Through weekly sessions with teaching, reflection, and small group discussion, participants are given a safe place to process their grief alongside others who understand.

Our next Bereavement Journey begins this October. It is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, no matter how recent or long ago that loss may be.

Oakville Generations Spanish

District Superintendent Steve and Pat Ottley had the privilege of visiting our Oakville Generations Spanish Church on Sunday, May 31. Pastor Leonardo Reyes and his dedicated leadership team are providing faithful and effective ministry to the Spanish-speaking community in Oakville and the surrounding area.

Oakville Generations Spanish Church is a vibrant and growing intergenerational congregation where people of all ages are worshipping, serving, and growing together in Christ. It was encouraging to witness the warm fellowship, passionate worship, and clear evidence of God's work among the people. Lives are being transformed as individuals come to faith in Jesus Christ, deepen their relationship with Him, and become actively engaged in the life and mission of the church.

We thank God for Pastor Leonardo, his leadership team, and the congregation as they continue to faithfully share the hope of the Gospel and serve their community. We celebrate what God is doing through this ministry and look forward to seeing how He will continue to use Oakville Generations Spanish Church to impact lives for His Kingdom.
